Yoghurt containers, fishing nets and recycled paper aren’t things that come to mind when you think of a brand such as Country Road. However, in their newest Chadstone store, Country Road has upcycled these into their carpet, wall cladding and fixtures. The store also features Australian parquetry flooring recycled from old buildings, fitting room hooks revitalised from ocean plastic and store fixtures made from recycled plastic. It’s part of an attempt to reduce the store’s environmental impact and has resulted in a 5 Star Green Star Design Review Rating from the Green Building Council of Australia. Country Road have also introduced sustainable fashion ranges, including traceable merino wool, jeans made from recycled denim and swimwear made from recycled nylon. It’s part of their aim to become a leader in sustainability. What I really like about Country Road’s Green store is that they’re drawing more awareness to their sustainability efforts by creating a customer experience that demands attention. It will appeal to more environmentally conscious shoppers, but I believe it will also drive more awareness and consciousness amongst shoppers. Would a retail experience like this have you thinking more about environmental impact? #sustainability #betterbusiness #leadership
Leading by example... I love it.
I haven't been in their stores for years, but guess what this has me curious.
My office is just upstairs from there. Amazing what Country Road have done. Kudos to them for blazing the trail in retail!
Yes, definitely it would Carolyn. It will drive people to be more environmentally conscious. This is good news!
It certainly has Carolyn, and I think it's great that Country Road supports ethical trade and sources materials from partners with sustainable practices.
This is gold! I love hearing stories about companies becoming more environmentally conscious, well done Country Road.
It certainly piques my interest in the ability to access items such as what they have used, and definitely pleases me to see them head in this direction.
This is great to see Carolyn Butler-Madden A great way for them to demonstrate at #Countryroad that they are taking their social purpose seriuosly
Interesting shop would like to check that out. I'm pretty sure it will have a huge impact on their shoppers.
Looking for opportunities
4yGreat! Great! Great! Yes, this again makes me think about environmental impact but their whole sustainability initiatives are purposeful. Its taken a while from clean up australia day Clean Up Australia Ltd, (which i do everytime i take my dogs for a walk), to early global corporate sustainability adoptors such as Westpac to now underatanding it is a local and global imperitive. Thanks for highlighting Carolyn Butler-Madden.
